Updates From the Board

 

Landmark Dinner event:

We had a good attendance at the ice skating/dinner event. The skating, followed by the burgers, salad, and vegi wraps, was enjoyed by everyone. 

 

ALERT: Ladies Night

Ladies Night will be changing from the third Monday to the first Monday of the month. Please see Ladies Night Section.

 

Family Focus:

On Saturday, February 10th there will be an outing for adults and kids to see the play, Jack and the Beanstalk at the Northbrook Theatre. Kids can have a McDonald's lunch before the play at 11:45 a.m. The play will begin at 1:00 p.m. Please see Family Focus section for more information.

 

Walking:

A number of NCC members have started an informal walking group Saturday mornings beginning between 8:45-9 a.m. on the 2nd floor of Park Center in the Glen, 2400 Chestnut Avenue. There is no fee. The view is beautiful, looking out the windows that surround the track. Join us!

 

New Website:

Thanks to Debbie Reeber for setting up our new web site. It should be easier for potential new members to find us. We can be found by doing a search on Google. You can access our new site at:

Arts and Crafts

Project: Fondue Party and Quilt Squares: Bring scissors and ruler

Please speak to Diane as to what to bring (evenings are best to reach her); if you have an electric fondue pot, please let her know. 

 

Book Club

Our Book Club selection for February 28th is The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch. 

 

Note -- If you are having trouble finding a copy of the book, please be aware that you can request books from the Northbrook Library by calling the library (847-272-6224) and asking for the Reader Services desk. They will get the book from within a large network of libraries and will call you when the book becomes available. Books usually become available within a week.

 

If you have difficulty finding a book, please call Julie Koslow at 847-291-7454.

 

Bunco

On February 10th, we are going to see the play Jack in the Beanstalk at the Northbrook Musical Theatre, 3323 Walters Avenue in Northbrook. You can choose to only see the play. Or, you can come earlier and have a McDonald's lunch first. A few characters from the play will be making an appearance while the kids eat their lunch.
